  5. Symbolism — An item used to represent a larger, more complex idea
  6. Foil — A character created to show the difference between that character and another character –  Ex. an evil foil makes an average character seem less evil in comparison

AP Literature

  2.  Option #4 people need to either read their novels or work on something else.

Short Stories

  1. Two page (at least!) comparison of “It  had to be Murder”, Rear Window, and Disturbia.
  2. Typed, 12 point font, double-spaced with a title.
  3. IMDB <- If this is blocked for you, we will go there together to get dates made, character names, etc.

Novels

  1. Today will be our last reading day for at least a week….
  2. Fill out your log for today and make sure you get it turned in — I am going to assign points for the reading days thus far.

AP Literature

  1. Poem: Txt poem — i no u no what  2 do (140 characters max)
  2. Read your novel, work on essay, get poems for next poetry response, work on poem book, etc.

  2. Walden by Henry David Thoreau (202-209) Lexile #1260 — a great test of your reading and understanding.
  3. Copy the vocabulary (word, part of speech, definition) on page 203 also copy the definition of metaphor.  — Write these with the Civil Disobedience work and turn in at the end of the period.
  4. Walden assignment (see handout) — DUE NEXT TUESDAY, MAY 1st.

Short Stories

  1. Finishing Disturbia (Rear Window…”It had to be Murder”)
  2. Starting essay tomorrow.

Novels

  1.  Reading novels today and tomorrow — next week you will have a video assignment.

AP Literature

  2. I am assigning points today based on focus and effort on book report — this means if you are loud or playing on the computer the you are going to get negative points.

  3. Essay — This will be 45% of your grade once it is the grade book!  Don’t slack on this — make sure it is an AP style essay.
